Error correcting code, used mainly in servers i think.

btw, what's your budget?

Are you planning to overclock?

And then it's all about your budget. Some notes:

- Gigabyte motherboards are secks. P31/P35/P45 for budget, and X38/X48 for performance. GA-P35/X38-DS3 -series are good
- Samsung spinpoints are great HDs
- For RAM I would go for brands, Corsair or OCZ or Crucial. For specs: 800 or 1066MHz with low latencies, preferably 4-4-4-12 or lower. ECC memory is server memory, error-correcting. It is actually a bit slower than normal. And 5 times more expensive
- Q6700 is not a wise buy. Get G6600 and overclock it, or get Q9300/Q9450.
- 9800GX2 is a dissappointment for such a huge price. ATI HD4850/HD4870 as well as nVIDIA GT100/200 are coming out in june, I'd wait there.
- For PSU I can't but recomment Chieftec smart-power series, I have the 500W one. They are budget, yet really good. If you want better for more price though, Corsair HX-series are great, as well as OCZ StealthXStream and GameXStream series.
- I'd pick an aftermarket cooler for the CPU, at least if you overclock. Even if not, you would be able to keep the system more silent.

Just notes. All comes to budget.

I think you need to choose a cheaper GFX. IMO I think the price you pay for that is ridiculous, you can buy another PC with it. The only thing it is gd for is to play Crysis on Ultra High. I would say go for a 8800GTS or maybe an 8800GTX.
The two I recommended can easily play MOST games on High.

Reply to: Computar, can i get one!?

Yeah my 8800GTS can run all my games on high.

If the system is for gamin and what not, get a higher end core2duo, rather than a quad, they run games better.

That is true at the moment.

But to be future proof I would say quad core is better. Its not like the one he chose will be awful, it just will not get you those extra FPS which your naked eye can not see.

I say stick with quad core, you will not have to upgrade the processor for a long time. And if you are skilled enough you could even OC it, and also you can know build a map on BF2 with it! smile

BF2 Editor is single core only, therefore a high end core2duo would once again be trumps.

I could save 40€ by over clocking it well i have 3 months time to think about all of this wink
INTEL Q6600 CORE2QUAD 2.4GHZ S775 is 180.84
INTEL CORE2QUAD Q6700 2.66GHZ S775 is 221.29
and INTEL Q9300 CORE2QUAD 2.5GHZ S775 is 221.29

My friend said that Chieftec is good one, though i didnt remember it when i made this packet...
The graphics gard is really expensive... 1 gb memory and 2 Nvidia Geforce 9800 in it big_smile, but like you pointed out there is new one coming and so on. So there is high change i am going to change it.
I just picked some random hd from the list, so i am probably going to change it too...
Ram is also 50% randomly picked up and might be changed, same goes to motherboard.
well lets say all of these are just guide lines, but this is something i am looking to.

*Note* Other graphics cards are 300 € or less, wort of changing hmm

XFX GF 9800GX2 PCIE 1G DDR3 BLACK EDITIO 514.35 €
XFX GF 9800GTX PCIE 512M DDR3 DUALDVI 286.56 €
http://s232.photobucket.com/albums/ee169/TheDami3n/th_Untitled-1-6.jpg
_____

I think i am going to get quad rather than core2duo, just because of the future and so on.
I also heard that intel q6600 got good ratings for gaming, and i just randomly picked up a bit faster one wink

You all gave me valid points to think about, and if you have free time you can post alternative spec.
From case to graphics card and back to power suply wink

P.S: DeathUnlimited you have knowledge on this thing, i would be happy if you would post example gaming computer here and put some prices too. With some arguments big_smile

P.S.S: The website i used for these prices and components is www.poropekka.fi, its only finnish based atm so its shit for nonfinnish people, but i know there is some finnish people here on kntl wink *and you can always use translator*

P.S.S.S: I wasnt thinking of over clocking, wasnt sure how it would go with quad cores hmm Also silent computer is big plus, though i dont think of making it water cooling..

And now some other questions...
32 bit windows is able to recognize 4 gigs of ram? If remember correctly it is able to recognize 3½ or 3.2 gigs of ram, or can it really fully spend all those 4 gigs il put in use?

Can i use windows 64 bit as normally as 32 bit, with programs which doesnt support/have 64 bit version of it?

32 bit Can not utilize all of 4GB. 64 bit can.

As far as program compatibility goes, I believe most things work by fixes you can find from the internet. But if there are some programs that you MUST have, look into it first.

Hah just like i said, but my other friend kept saying that it can... Fuck him.
But arent you just able to still run normal programs with 64 bit windows, even when it doesnt support it?
Can i play battlefield 2, tf2 and other games with 64 bit windows?

Note: 64 Bit windows should be able to utilize up to 8 gigs big_smile

Here's my effort - here's the direct link if you can't read the pic Icy's build

http://img239.imageshack.us/img239/5116/buildsc2.jpg

The 2 highlighted in red - Mobo it's all personal choice really as they're as good as each other and the same goes for the graphics cards - the GTX is a tiny bit better but takes up a bit more power. I've checked all the specs and having them in sli will put your frame rate for bf2 and 2142 thru the roof big_smile
The OCZ reaper ram is fucking intense, the soundcard isn't really needed but will help your frame-rates as will the Killer NIC. The G0 stepping Q6600 core is very easy to overclock but u may not even need to - just ask me if you're not too sure smile
The Samsung Spinpoint as DeathUnlim says is the best HD to go for - they've been clocked as faster than Raptors in some systems and they don't sound like an F35 landing on your house when under load. Case is just a random one i picked out - i presume u have a dvd drive or 2 to put in it if not then just go for sony one's.
Other than that there doesn't seem to be anything i've missed. If you want a decent monitor then a Dell 24" widescreen are always good choices - if the budget doesn't stretch that far then just get a 20.1" instead

An alternate PSU is the Be Quiet Psu Its getting some pretty good reviews!

Also as a minor point 64 windows can take up to at least 32 gig of ram lol

Icy I have seen that Killer NIC thing. All I can say is that that is the worst fucking thing to every invest in. £111!!! just so it takes slight processor loads from your CPU. This would have little effects especially on any decent new rig. He is getting a quad core CPU, I think the Killer NIC is an utter waste of money for him.

Ok it might improve his FPS but honestly what is point of having 150 FPS instead of 100FPS? You can not notice a difference unless you want a larger e-penis to say look at my glorious FPS! It is better than yours....haha so I am win.

In the future, it could change 10 fps to 30 xD

Thanks icy and teek from the replys, i will take a seriously look in to them wink
Btw i had graduation thing on the school today, now i am officially "Datanomi" big_smile

I will be contacting you alex online if i need to ask a bit more big_smile, keep throwing ideas it seems that my budjet might be 3000 €. Lol, putting that much money in one computer is just stupid hmm

I have 64-bit Vista Ultimate. I can use 32-bit programs and haven't had any issues so far.

Also 64-bit can support up to 128 gigs depending on version...

Not quite.

Home Basic 8 gigs
Home Premium 16 gigs
Ultimate 32 gigs
Business 128 gigs

3 months is awfully long time. Prices will drop. New products will come out and so on...

The Killer NIC thing isn't just for helping with frame-rate's in game tho. Yes it streamlines the connection for your games meaning the CPU and GPU have that little bit more power to work with but you can also make/use a couple of programs for it that download in the background, it can run xfire/msn/vent/icq without taking any bandwidth from the game, etc etc. There's a hell of a lot more that can be done with it than just lowering your ping and increasing ur frame-rate!

Why are you spending so much money on your rig? I personally would  split your budget in half. And just get another pc in 2-3 years time.

Rig im looking forward to get...

- NZXT Tempest ATX Mid-Tower Case as case = 64,20 €
- Ultra ULT40053 X-Pro 600-Watt Power Supply = 57,78 € (is 600W enough?)
- ASUS S775 IP45 DDR3 SATA2 GBLAN 8-CH FW = 171,71 €
- XFX GF 9800GTX PCIE 512MB BLACK EDITION = 322,79 €
- INTEL Q9450 CORE2QUAD 2.66GHZ S775 TRAY = 255,96 €
- 4GB 1066MHZ DDR3 ECC CL7 DIMM (KIT OF 2) (2x2GB DDR3 1066MHZ) = 268,81 €
- SMG F1 500GB 3.5" SATAII 7200RPM 16MB = 67,00 €
- SM 931BW 19'' 700:1/2MS/1440X900/WIDE (Its samsung...(19" is enough for me i think hmm )) = 225,02 €
- CREATIVE INSPIRE T7900 7.1 ("speakers") = 115,81 €
- SMG DVDRW 20X BLACK/IVORY RET. NERO LS = 31,50 €

- Total = ~1580,58 €

As i would really like to because of different reason, feel free to turn me down sad
As i think this is good for me
As I dunt like j00!!!!!!
As These ones i would take if you dont say anything about em hmm

~~~~~~
I think this would be good computar for me...
I saw video of this case link, it has good ammount of fans and big enough for me. Is my motherboard and other stuff still "fitting" into it???
Power Supply is from same website and i guess it would do, IS IT RIGHT ONE TO GET?!?!?
I saw that motherboard as good enough, has good audio in it and it supports ddr 3 memory i am maybe going to have, if not then im probs going to change it...
Saw video about this graphics card, and i think it is good enough... I want it big_smile
Processors is quad, and has more L2 cache than cheaper model of it. Though i would like to get it 3GHz if possible, quad from intel that is. Im going to overclock it a bit maybe to 3GHz if i dont pick up anything else.
That ram is EXPENSIVE! There was no NON-ECC so is that slower than same with no error correction?I would like to get a bit faster ram than normal so i picked up this DDR-3, Or is it worth to get when compared to 800MHz?
Du said samsung's hds are good and 500 Gbs is enough for me.
I dont really have anything to say about the screen. its 19" and 2ms, is there really any big difference with 2ms and 5ms screens?
Speakers are 7.1 like i would like to have, you have better idea?
Btw if i buy those, do i have to buy any cables or are they coming with the packets?
~~~~~~

Now give me some feedback and tell me if you would replace something, with what and why? big_smile

Edit: I hope i didnt forget any major component's xD

Replace PSU don't skimp on your PSU ever, it can fry all your components,

Is great.

Tinyurl'd it because it was huge.

No for DDR3 and 9800GTX

Yes for 1066MHz DDR2 and Radeon HD4850/4870

PSU is also suspicious

You could add me on xfire so I can get more "in depth" when I have moar time, aka not today.

EDIT: And you need a bigger screen.

Samsung SM-T200 20" Widescreen LCD Monitor

Win.

I do not understand why you want to pay so much fucking money for a GFX that is not that much better than the rest which are a lot cheaper. I would go with Zimmer said except I would say get a 22" inch screen.
