Topic: KNTL Attend i33
6 KNTL members attended i33, a 4 day LAN Party starting at 09:00 on Friday the 21st of March and ending at 16:00 on Monday the 24th of March. Those 6 members were:
- liquidat0r - Adam
- KillingSpree - James
- *m3z-x* - Benn
- messmessmess17 - Matt
- Idlewild - Mike
- NightKnifer - Alex
The event, and the other i-Series events are run by Multiplay UK:
i33 is the UKs largest LAN party and gaming festival, bringing together gamers from all over the UK to take part in a long weekend of multiplayer PC and console gaming, getting sneak peaks at cutting edge games and technology and meeting up with gamers from around the globe.
Bring your own PC down to the event, plug in an spend over 80 hours gaming with 1,500 other people over our super fast Local Area Network - no lag like over the Internet! Play whichever games you want, we run servers for all kinds of games - new and old.
We all had an awesome time playing on our own PCs in a huge room with roughly 500 other people. Collectively we played Battlefield 2, World of Warcraft, Counter-Strike: Source, Team Fortress 2, Garry's Mod and Command & Conquer Generals: Zero Hour and a few other games.
All 6 of us took our PCs (two had laptops) which really was a brilliant idea. It meant getting them there, setting them up and then getting them home again. But not taking them would have been a seriously bad idea. (You can 'participate' as a spectator, bring your own PC or by a Turn Up And Play ticket, if anyone was wondering.)
We also advertised the clan by wearing our KNTL T-Shirts purchased and printed by Benn. A big thanks to him, they really were awesome:
We took a 9 man tent which 5 of us slept in for a few hours each night. The tent really did take a battering in the less-then-friendly winds, snow, rain and hail and probably wasn't helped by pretty poor pitching. Anyhow, whilst it was rather cold, and I quote James: "Mike put more cloths on just to go to bed", it was a great experience.
We lived off of sweet and savory snacks, water and coke that we brought with us; hot-dogs, burgers and chips from the 24 hour take-away and Delivered-to-Desk Pizza. At one point we were running low on water so we took a trip to Sainsbury's - water proved to be both highly important and unavailable at the venue.
As well as providing a super-fast network and internet connection for us gamers, Multiplay also put on an exhibition. Some big names were there such as Intel, EA, Packard Bell and Crucial as well as others. Loads of free stuff was given out. My collection in includes: A load of pens, 3 T-Shirts, 7 Graphics Card Surge Protectors (wtf?), a squidgy ball and a few other small things.
There was a pretty impressive raffle with over 200 winning tickets. Collectively, we spent about £30 on tickets. Out of that, Matt won a CoolerMaster PC case - not bad at all. The first place raffle prize was a £3,000 PC.
KNTL got to the Second Round of the Battlefield 2 tournament - which was effectively the quarter finals. We then lost to the two teams that were in the final and were consequently knocked out. Pretty impressive, seeing as none of us really play BF2 anymore.

I am hoping to go to another one of these events, as well as all the other guys I suspect. It really was brilliant. Whilst there were fair few "geeks" there - it really wasn't a geek-fest whatsoever. Well worth the entry price!
i34 anyone? If not, then i35, 36, 37 ... ?
