Topic: i34
Four members from KNTL travelled up to Coventry to attend a 4 day LAN event. Me, Killingspree (James), Mess17 (Matt) and M3z (Ben) spent four days in searing heat, screaming and the constant whiff of odour that could not be mistaken for a mix of fart, BO and overheating PCs.
i34 is run by Multiplay and is held every 4 months and has recently moved to its new home of Stoneleigh Park a few miles outside of Coventry. Before that it was held in Newbury (near Reading).
KNTL entered the battlefield 2 tournament and did surprisingly well, our fifth was someone I knew from college that barely played battlefield 2 but was actually pretty intense we were put into a group with 5 other clans, these being Clan Spam, Rush, 22SAS, Gutted Veratas and Daves Mum. We won our games against Clan Spam and Daves Mum, by a large margin however got trounced by Gutted and Rush. 22SAS dropped out the competition due to members PC issues so we got the win against them too.
We had a good time playing these matches but we all agree that there were two sides of the spectrum playing in the BF2 tournament, the crap clans playing it for fun and the really serious clans who were sponsored and for 5 or 6 hours a day, every day.
We finished 3 in our group and unforunetly didnt make it through to the knock-out stages.
We all really wanted to play a scrim where we were playing a team whose skill was similar to ours. We were sitting opposite the =[MI5]= clan and they asked us if we wanted a game so we played them, they were similar skill to us but after two maps with two rounds we won in the end 3 rounds to 1, I didnt pay attention to the tickets.
We took two two man tents, I shared one with Ben and that was just big enough for our sleeping bags and our rucksacks. However James and Matts pop-up tent was far too small, not waterproof and overall pretty shit. While mine and Bens nights sleep was peaceful and spacious, James and Matt were constantly touching each other up.
Again, we lived off Pizza, Custard Creams, Beer, Haribo and drank a hell of a lot of water, honestly, its a great experience and would go again given the chance.
