Topic: Thinking about buying laptop.

Ok, I personally know nothing at all about laptops, but I'm thinking about buying one.
I got about 1000€ to spend, would like to be able to game a bit on it, just like tf2 or something. Maybe crysis on lowest settings.
Also, 15.4" is big enough, for the rest I have no preferences, except that I won't buy a macbook, too expensive.
Certainly no bigger than 17".

I know some places that are gd. But they are UK sites and they custom build them.

So I can not really recommend much apart spec wise.

I would say get a 512MB 8600 (Gt I think) card and a C2D, 2.4ghz or something.

Did a bit of digging but will continue to do so when i can find the effort to but at the moment these 2 seem to stand out even though they are over the budget a bit:-

Dell XPS The XPS line that dell does is usually very good and this one seems to fit nicely

MSI Gaming MSO are also generally quite good - only prob i see with this one is it looks a little chunky lol

I would check Rock out where Mike (Idlewild) got his from but they're currently in administration so they're a little bit fucked lol

I've got a 17.5" as my main PC, it's big and i don't lug it around. If you're looking for a laptop to game & transport get a 15"

It would take a pretty big laptop to run Crysis. I'd settle for one that could run TF2/BF2, the crysis capable laptops aren't exactly "portable" so it kinda beats the purpose.

Also crysis is not that great a game that you want to spend £2000 to play it.

Yeah, I was just giving an example of a high end game, also, what do you guys think of the following pc (it isn't the best, but what could it handle and is it good for price/upgradable). I still think I will buy a laptop though, but never hurst looking for a decent pc.

looks a bit lame to me. Mainly the GFX. I did not eve know there was a 9500 gt but I doubt it is that good.

also for 700(euros?? i think) Surely you could get more bang for your buck.

Also I run Crysis smoothly on medium with 8600GT. Overclocked though, and notebook version is worse than regular. But 8600 Is plenty to run it at low.

An 8600GT-m 256MB would be fine for a 15" display. Of course, get a widescreen ... take a look at some of the HP Pavilion range smile
